Tile Flooring Guide

Carpet One of Sioux Falls  has you and your home covered when you need tile. Our flooring professionals are here to help you choose the perfect tile options for your next home project. When it comes to style and design the possibilities are limitless. Tile is more than just flooring, it can also be used on your walls, in showers, and outside as a patio or walkway.

If you are looking for a flooring option that is durable and easy to clean, then consider tile flooring. It is an allergy-friendly solution for those who suffer because there is nowhere for dust, mold, or mildew to hide and thrive.

Below, Jim Aaron explains how to choose the perfect tile for your home.

Types of Tile

We have three main tile options to choose from including: ceramic, porcelain, and stone.

Popular kitchen and bathroom flooring options include ceramic and porcelain tile. Ceramic is affordable and comes in a wide variety of styles and patterns. If you need a more durable tile option for high traffic areas like mudrooms, then consider porcelain. Porcelain can withstand heat and heavy foot traffic as well as support heavy appliances due to how dense it is. Both porcelain and ceramic tile are made with the same materials, but because porcelain is heated at a higher temperature it is denser and more resistant to heat and moisture. We also have natural stone tile, and because stone is quarried from different locations, no two slabs are alike which means you can have a truly custom floor.

Tile Installation

Depending on the type of tile you choose you can install it anywhere inside and outside of your home. Floor tiles can mainly be used on floors, but some can also be used on walls like ceramic tile. Wall tile can only be installed on walls because it is not dense enough to handle foot traffic and could crack under pressure.

Places tile flooring is ideal for include kitchens and bathrooms because of their water resistant and heat resistant qualities. Other places tile can be installed include entryways to your home, laundry rooms, and even basements.
